Cylindrically curved tempered glass is a safety glass obtained through a bending process simultaneously to the tempering process of the glass. The Vidurglass process to obtain curved tempered glass consists in heating the flat glass to the temperature of its softening point and then quenching by jets of cold air.

Cylindrically curved glass has a constant radius and has the advantage that it is not necessary to use bending tools for this type of curvature. The tightest radius that can be achieved with this type of manufacture is R1000mm. For tigther radii it is required an special bending tool to bend the glass accordingly.

Just as flat tempered glass, curved tempered glass becomes more resistant to mechanical stresses (bending, impact...) and thermal stresses (temperature differences), without altering the spectrophotometric properties of the basic product.

For automotive applications, thanks to the use of tempered glass VidurGlass of 3.15 mm thick, minimum weight is achieved in the glazing of the vehicle, thereby achieving a reduction in the consumption of the vehicle.

  • Resistance to impacts: VIDURGLASS tempered glass has a resistance to a steel ball impact 5 times higher than a non-tempered glass.
  • Resistance to flexotraction: VIDURGLASS tempered glass has a resistance to flexotraction two and a half times higher than non-tempered glass.
  • Resistance to thermal tensions: VIDURGLASS glazing can withstand a difference of temperature up to 200 ºC.
  • Fragmentation: in case of breakage, VIDURGLASS tempered glass will break in small fragments minimizing the risk of deep cuts. This makes VIDURGLASS glass a safety glass especially suitable for applications where protection against the risk of cuts through knocks or collisions is required.

  • Mass tinted glass: during the manufacturing process of this glass, small quantities of metallic oxides are added to the mixing of float glass. These small added amounts give the glass a characteristic colour without affecting its basic properties except for some changes in the solar energy transmission. The colour is homogeneous in the whole thickness.
  • Edges: the finishes of the edges can be arrissed, industrial polished, bright polished, etc.
  • Holes and notches: VIDURGLASS tempered glass can have holes and complex notches to assemble it according to different requirements.
  • Silk-screen print: capability of printing the glass with different designs and colours using vitrifiable enamels that become part of the mass of the glass once tempered.
  • Special heatable silk-screen print: analysis, design and manufacture of glasses with silk-printed electrical circuits on the glass surface.
  • Acid etching: capability of applying an acid that partially dissolves the glass and creates a granulated surface, which diffuses the light and turns a clear glass into a translucent one that offers privacy.
